Lauren Wood, Ph.D., LMFT

Owner, Therapist

Lauren Wood is a Marriage and Family Therapist trained to work with individuals, couples, and families.

 

Originally from South Carolina, Lauren has been living in Cedar Rapids for ten years. She taught middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies prior to relocating to Iowa. 

 

Lauren graduated with her Bachelor's in Education from the University of South Carolina. She has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a doctorate of philosophy from Mount Mercy University. Lauren served on the Board of Behavioral Science from May 2023 till July 2024. 

 

Liz Burgin, LMFT

Therapist


Liz Burgin is a believer in potential. She has always felt drawn to helping others succeed. In 2021, she graduated with a Masters's degree from Mount Mercy University in their Marriage and Family Therapy program. Liz holds an LMFT license and is available to see people throughout Iowa. Currently, she offers in-person and telehealth sessions. Fascinated by the gray area of our lives, Liz wants to help you examine your identity, your context, and your future.

 

Outside work Liz spends time with her family and enjoys photography, exploring the bike trails as well as finding food gems of the corridor, all with a coffee in hand. 

Jordan Root-Japenga, TLFMT

Therapist


Jordan Root-Japenga aspires to help individuals through authentic and meaningful encounters. She believes that every individual possesses the power for personal growth and healing, and enjoys helping them access their desired goals in therapy.


Jordan graduated from Mount Mercy University in 2022 with her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jordan holds a tLMFT license and is available to see individuals, couples, and families throughout Iowa via telehealth or in-person sessions.


Outside of being a therapist, Jordan enjoys spending time with family, playing with her 93lb. yellow lab, traveling, cooking/baking in the kitchen, and going on tiny adventures with her husband!

 

Stacy Grooms,  LFMT

Therapist


Stacy Grooms is a graduate of Mt. Mercy University, having earned her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in August of 2021. Stacy strives to offer a therapeutic environment that is inclusive, safe, and nonjudgmental. Her therapeutic approach incorporates a safe space for processing the most intimate thoughts and feelings, acceptance, and hope.


Stacy is excited to work with couples and families as well as individual adults, teens and children. Particularly couples with fidelity and communication issues. Families in times of turmoil. Individuals with panic disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and/or depression. 


Her  therapeutic approaches include dialectic behavioral therapy, narrative, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based approaches.


Stacy’s personal interests include Girl Scouts Troop Leader, hiking, cycling, reading, and playing board games.
